Editorial Guidelines and Submissions

Technology Networks is happy to receive and publish* content that falls within the categories outlined below, provided it is relevant to the fields we cover.

Contributed Articles and Op-Eds

Contributed articles

Contributed articles are designed to cover advances in a field or provide readers with a broad perspective of a particular topic. They must align with the editorial style of the publication and must fall within the scope of Technology Networks’ scientific communities.

To be considered for publication the article needs to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Please credit any images, figures and/or tables used and include captions to provide context to the reader
  • Company and product mentions are not permitted
  • Please divide the piece into at least three subsections with descriptive subheadings
  • Content must be original, meaning it should not be published anywhere else
  • We will not provide gratuitous backlinks
  • Please reference robust, reliable sources of information throughout (e.g., peer-reviewed academic journal articles and/or books). Impartial and independent public service news outlets (e.g., BBC, Reuters, Associated Press) are also considered acceptable sources of information. Please note: Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source for citations

  • Provide a short “about the author” biography of no more than 100 words and headshot (optional) to accompany the piece
  • Provide a link to a public profile such as LinkedIn, Twitter, ResearchGate etc.

Op-Eds

An opinion piece or op-ed – short for “opposite the editorial page” – is a written piece of content that expresses the opinion of the author. Technology Networks accepts opinion pieces on topics that fall within the scope of its communities.

To be considered for publication the op-ed needs to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Up to 1,250 words in length and no less than 600 words
  • US English should be used

Please note: Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source for citations
  • Must not be promotional and should avoid mentioning products, services or companies in a promotional capacity
  • Wherever possible, company links should be substituted for one of the recommended sources listed above
  • Please refrain from referencing company materials as a source of information, particularly gated content and product-focused materials. We will allow up to two company links per article, this is contingent on them being ungated, educational resources
  • Opinion pieces cannot be used as a platform for airing personal grievances or frustrations
  • Must have a clearly defined angle and point of view
  • Content must be original, meaning it should not be published anywhere else
  • We will not provide gratuitous backlinks
  • Images are not required but if you are supplying, please credit any images, figures and/or tables used and include captions to provide context to the reader
